Highbridge
Highbridge is a tiny, former market town situated on the edge of the Somerset Levels near the mouth of the River Brue. It remains in the County of Somerset, and is about 20 miles (32.2 kilometres) north eastern of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. It is no more a market town, the market site is currently a housing estate. Highbridge remains in the Area of Sedgemoor, being positioned roughly 7 miles (11.3 km) north of Bridgwater, the area's management centre. Highbridge very closely neighbours Burnham-on-Sea, developing part of the combined parish of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge and shares a community council with the resort community. In the 2001 census the population was 5,986. In the 2011 census the population of the community was included in the ward of Highbridge and also Burnham Marine, which totalled 7,555.
