Padstow
Padstow is a community, civil parish as well as angling port on the north coastline of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The community is located on the west bank of the River Camel estuary about 5 miles (8.0 km) northwest of Wadebridge, 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Bodmin and 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Newquay. The population of Padstow civil parish was 3,162 in the 2001 census, lowering to 2,993 at the 2011 census. On top of that a selecting ward with the very same name exists but extends as for Trevose Head. The population for this ward is 4,434. Generally a fishing port, Padstow is now a preferred vacationer destination. Although several of its former angling fleet continues to be, it is generally a yachting haven on a significant coastline with few easily navigable harbours. The impact of restaurateur Rick Stein can be seen in the port, as well as travelers travel from long distances to eat at his restaurant and also cafés. This has resulted in the community being dubbed "Padstein", by food writers in the British media. Nevertheless, the boom in the appeal of the port has triggered home rate inflation both in the port and bordering locations, as individuals get houses to live in, or as second or holiday houses. This has actually indicated substantial numbers of locals can not afford to purchase residential or commercial property in the area, with rates frequently more than 10 times the typical income of around £ 15,000. This has resulted in a population decrease. Strategies to construct a skatepark in Padstow have actually been proposed and also funds are being increased to create this at the Recreation Ground (Wheal Jubilee Parc).
