Alston
Alston is a town in Cumbria, England, within the civil parish of Alston Moor on the River South Tyne. It shares the title of the 'highest possible market community in England', at about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level, with Buxton, Derbyshire. In spite of being at such an elevation and in a remote place, the community is easily accessible using the many roadways which connect the town to Weardale valley, Teesdale, Hartside Pass (as well as towns in Cumbria such as Penrith) in addition to the Tyne valley.
