Bellshill
Bellshill is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located ten miles to the south east of Glasgow city centre and 37 miles to the west of Edinburgh, in addition to being in close proximity to other towns including Motherwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge. Since 1996, it has been a part of the Greater Glasgow metropolitan area. With a population of about 20,705, a report by the Halifax Building Society revealed that early in 2005, the town was the UK's homebuying hotspot, witnessing a rise in property prices by 46 per cent. Since the middle of the 1980s, the town has been recognised specifically for creating respected and influential popular music, with bands like the Soup Dragons, BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub hailing from the town. A Channel 4 TV series, 'Sounds of the Suburbs', celebrated the music of the area, often known as the 'Bellshill Sound' or the 'Bellshill Beat'.
