Fencing in Kidlington

In need of wooden fence installers in Kidlington? Our wooden fence installers in Kidlington will be able to supply you with the best quotes for having wooden fencing installed.

Fencing is necessary for both residential and commercial buildings for many different reasons. It acts as a border for home gardens and private land, becoming a measure of privacy as well as to keep people and pets in or out.

Perks of wood fencing include additional property security and aesthetic appeal. With a fence set up, it will become tougher for trespassers to reach your household and garden. Ensure to pick a design which will look great as well, especially if for house reasons.

We will provide you up to four wooden fencing contractors in the area, who'll provide quotes for the work you'd like done. You'll be given a household visit from specialists in Kidlington who'll help you to determine the right design and style for your house before completing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence will take less than one day to undertake, depending upon the size of area you'd like secured.

Average Wooden fencing cost in Kidlington

The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. The labour costs depend on the length and height of your fence, the number of posts and the material used. It will also differ among regions, so it's best to get a few quotes to see what the best price is in your area.

Kidlington

Kidlington is a large village and civil parish in between the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. It is approximately 5 miles (8 km) north of Oxford and 7.5 miles (12 km) southwest of Bicester. The settlement detailed in the Domesday Book of 1086 developed from an ancient village adjacent to the church. Before the Enclosure acts of 1818, a substantial segment south of the village was unenclosed common land, and the village was commonly known as Kidlington-on-the-Green. According to the 2011 Census, the village has a permanent resident population of 13723. This makes it a serious contender for the largest village in England. Kidlington locals have constantly resisted proposals to become a town, although it gets approved for such status against any requirements. Following a peremptory adjustment by the Parish Council to Town status, the change was voted down in a ballot of the regional electorate by 98 percent, and therefore reversed. There are many opportunities to take part in social, cultural and leisure activities in the town. Kidlington is the home of around 50 shops, both independent and commercial chain stores, banks and building societies, a public library, a substantial village hall and a weekly market. As well as this, there are seven public houses, two coffee shops, and four eateries. The public houses are focused along the dual carriageway that runs through the village, which consist of the Highwayman Hotel, the Black Horse, the Black Bull, the Red Lion, together with the King's Arms in the Moors, and the Six Bells in Mill Street. The Squire Bassett was turned into a Nepalese restaurant and relabelled the Gurkha Village in 2012. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make use of respected professionals in Kidlington to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
How do I find out who owns a fence?

Speaking to the owners of the neighbouring properties is recommended. If you are still unsure, you may need to check the original deeds to the property. Generally the rule is that you are responsible for the fence at the right hand side of your property.

What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.
