Catterick Garrison

Catterick Garrison is a major garrison and town located three miles south of Richmond in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The town lies inside the Central Richmondshire electoral division of North Yorkshire County Council and divided among the Hipswell and Scotton wards of Richmondshire District Council. The town is divided among two civil parishes. The southern part of the town, south of a little stream called Leadmill Gill, is inside the civil parish of Scotton. The northern part forms the greater part of the civil parish of Hipswell. Every parish has its own parish council. It's the biggest British Army garrison in the world, with a population of about 13000 and measuring over 2400 acres. The original intention for Catterick was to be a temporary camp to accommodate two full divisions with about 40000 men in 2000 huts. However, under plans announced by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in November 2005, the population of Catterick Garrison is expected to develop to over 25000 by 2020, making it the biggest population centre inside the local area. Lacking a real town centre, the Garrison gained its 1st big supermarket in 2000, as well as a retail park called 'Richmondshire Walk', which also contains a McDonalds, a Poundstretcher plus a Peacocks, amongst others. 'Catterick Leisure Centre' is a purpose built complex opposite the retail park, opened in July 2009, and it provides a broad spectrum of leisure and fitness facilities like a swimming pool, as well as a gym, along with an adjoining public library. For all your residence upgrades, be certain that you use trustworthy specialists in Catterick Garrison to ensure you get the most effective quality.
