Market Harborough

Market Harborough is a market town within the Harborough district of Leicestershire. It is the administrative head office of Harborough District Council, and has a population of 22911 occupants. Formerly at a crossroads for both road and rail, the A6 now circumvents the town to the east, and the A14, which includes east-west traffic, is 6 miles to the south. The town is positioned on land that customarily made up Rockingham Forest, a royal hunting forest used by medieval monarchs after William I. There are 2 villages within the boundaries of Market Harborough. Great Bowden can be found a mile from the town centre, and Little Bowden is under half a mile from the town centre. The three centres have actually predominately merged because of ribbon development and infill. Standing over the town centre is the steeple of St. Dionysius Parish Church, which rises straight from the street as there is no church lawn surrounding the building. The Old Grammar School, a reasonably modest timber structure dating back to 1614, has actually transformed into a symbol of the town. The town square is mostly pedestrianised and surrounded by multiple structures, although many structures situated in the High Street are Georgian buildings that stay predominately undamaged. Market Harborough underwent significant change in the latter half of the 20th century. This features the establishment of the headquarters for Golden Wonder crisp producers, and the demolition of the old Symington factory to the building of Eden Court shops and flats. In 1968, the centre of Market Harborough was labelled as a conservation area. In 2007, its popular park, Welland Park, was awarded Green Flag Award Status, identifying quality and high environmental standards. For all your home upgrades, make sure to make use of credible experts in Market Harborough to make certain of quality.

It’s normal to think that having a new gravel laid is a herculean task but when the necessary tools and materials are within your reach then it’s a fair simple task for the competent DIYer. So if you’re about to lay your new gravel driveway option of your home and wondering how deep to dig the driveway, then you’ve come to the right place. There are times, however, that the best option would be to hire a reliable and trustworthy professional who can guarantee the best results while also helping you save time and additional expenses which could result from costly mistakes. However, in this guide, we offer some handy tips on the appropriate depth of a gravel driveway in order to put you on the right path from the start. So let’s take a closer look!

Normally, it’s required to lay a a 10 mm aggregate on a depth which should be within the range of 30 mm to 40 mm. However in the case of driveway, this structure must be at least 50mm deep. As a result of this requirement, you’ll require to dig a minimum depth of about 50 mm to 60mm on your driveway. If you’re using a larger aggregate, it’s going to settle and bond together more easily than the smaller alternatives. Therefore, the depth of your driveway will mostly be determined by the size of the aggregate you opt for as well as how you intend to use the surface.

how to keep gravel in place on driveway?

It’s always a good idea to be sure of how you’re going to keep the annoying gravel spillage off your driveway way before its installation, however, if you’ve already done so, it’s better late than never. We all know how great a gravel driveway can look when the gravels manage to stay in place. When gravel is used on a driveway it provides a great transition from the normal hardness of a driveway to the organic softness of the lawn which doesn’t retain water or gush runoff during irrigation or rainfall. Unfortunately, the sad thing here is gravel don’t just like to stay put. Before long, if ignored, you’d realize your hard surfaces will almost be covered with gravel coming in from the side. So what’s the solution to this rather annoying situation?

Here, we’ll show you just how you can keep your gravel in place in your driveway. Let’s take a look!

The solution here is simple - simply make use of Pour On. With Pour On, you won’t have to think about of clearing out your gravel features to put an end to the issue of loose rocks spilling on your hard surfaces. With Pour On, you’ll be able to hold your gravel in place for several years to come. And even more importantly, it’s able to achieve this objective while also protecting the integrity the existing permeability of your driveway. What’s more? It also goes a long way to retain the natural look provided by your gravel driveway which makes it the perfect solution to the annoying gravel spillage issues.

How to clear snow from a gravel driveway?

Clearing snow from a gravel driveway can be tricky – you need to remove the snow without taking the gravel with it.

If the snow’s quite light and dry, try using a leaf blower. You might find that this is enough to get the snow out the way. If it isn’t, start by using a shovel. Use this to clear the top layer of snow off your driveway, leaving about an inch behind. Then, use a rake to remove most of the remaining snow. This won’t take away 100% of the snow or leave all of your gravel in place, but it’s still pretty effective. You can then lay salt to melt away the rest of the snow and stop it turning into ice.

What size gravel is best for driveways?

It’s up to you what size gravel you use for your driveway, but there are some guidelines that are worth following. If you go too small, your gravel will get displaced easily. But, if you go too big, you driveway might be quite tricky to walk on. Generally, it’s a good idea to go for a gravel size somewhere between 10-20mm.
