Berwick-upon-tweed
Berwick-upon-Tweed is a town inside the county of Northumberland. It is the northernmost town in England. It is positioned 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) to the south of the Scottish border, at the mouth of the River Tweed, on the east coast of the United Kingdom. It's about 56 miles (90 kilometres) to the south east of Edinburgh, 65 miles (105 km) north of Newcastle upon Tyne and 345 miles (555 kilometres) north of London. The 2011 UK Census recorded Berwick's population as roughly 12,000. A civil parish and town council were founded in 2008. Berwick was founded as an Anglo-Saxon settlement during the period of the Kingdom of Northumbria, which was annexed by England in the 10th century.
