Parquet Flooring in Wales

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company can recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
