Parquet Flooring in Gwynedd

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a wide selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
