Goodwick

Goodwick is a coastal town in Pembrokeshire, south-west Wales, immediately west of its twin town of Fishguard. The coasts of Wales were subjected to Norse raids through the Viking Era and, in the latter 10th century, Norse trading posts and settlements eventually became developed. Goodwick was a small fishing village in the parish of Llanwnda, however in 1887 work started on a railway connection and harbour, and the village proliferated to service this. The principal market is now tourism although in the town's industrial past brick making was at one time an important sector. Some fishing still takes place on a modest scale however most activity is centred on Milford Haven. The local beach, Goowick Sands, is where the overpowered French invasion force gathered preceding their unconditional surrender on 24 February 1797. Fishguard and Goodwick train station served regional rail visitors from the town, and from nearby Fishguard, until the line was effectively closed to such travelers by the drop in service to boat trains only in 1964. After this, trains only served Fishguard Harbour and the station fell into disrepair. Following financial investment from Network Rail and Pembrokeshire County Council the station has now been re-built and was reopened for guests once more, on 14 May 2012. It is served by the boat trains and the freshly offered local trains. The town is also served by the Fishguard town service bus, which runs alternately from Harbour Village or Stop-and-Call, at first a detached settlement, to Fishguard town hall. Two Fishguard to St. Davids bus routes also pass through the town. For all of your home renovations, make certain to find credible professionals in Goodwick to make certain of quality.

how to lay paving slabs?

To inexperienced people laying of paving slab isn’t much more than digging a little, purchasing little amount of mortar and pressing down the paving slabs. But how good would it have been if only it were that easy in real life? The truth is, in reality, laying paving slabs does not only require you to prepare your sub-base painstakingly and mix your mortar using the appropriate materials, but you’d also have to work with accurate and precise paver placements to guarantee the patio’s longevity. As a result, if you lack proper training or experience, we’d recommend you hire the services of a seasoned professional who can guarantee the best results and also save you time and extra cash that may result from possible costly errors. In this guide, you’d gain more insight into the paving slabs laying process.

To get started, you’ll need sharp sand, cement, shovel, wheelbarrow, pointing trowel, rubber mallet, spirit level, jointing compound, hard-bristled brush and tarpaulin.

• Mix a layer of mortar for each paver.

• Apply the mixed mortar onto the sub base by using the trowel.

• Slot the first flag in place and ensure not to stain the paver’s surface with the mixed mortar.

• Using a rubber mallet, carefully tap the paver to the mortar bed. Once done, ensure the surface is even with a spirit level.

• Take a measurement of the gap between the pavers

• Repeat the above steps until all pavers have been perfectly laid

• Leave the pavers to dry for about 1 to 2 days. You can protect it using a tarpaulin if concerned about rain.

• Use the jointing compound to fill up the paver gaps to bind together the pavers. Ensure to wipe off any excess compound using the hard bristled brush.
