Parquet Flooring in Abbotsley

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a wide selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and patterns for your home.
