Parquet Flooring in Accrington

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to give the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company can advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
