Parquet Flooring in Avon

Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
