Parquet Flooring in Bangor

Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring comes in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet floor company can recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
