Parquet Flooring in Chelmsford

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
