Parquet Flooring in Holmrook

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a huge variety of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
