Parquet Flooring in Lincolnshire

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
