Parquet Flooring in Newtownabbey

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring comes in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed utilising a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and patterns for your home.
