Parquet Flooring in Tyne And Wear

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a wide selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
