Parquet Flooring in Aberdeen

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive variety of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company will be able to suggest the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
