Parquet Flooring in Aldershot

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company can advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
