Parquet Flooring in Aylesbury

Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed by using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company can advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
