Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a huge range of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which function several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive.
