Parquet Flooring in Mayfield

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed utilising a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
