Parquet Flooring in Morecambe

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge range of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
