Parquet Flooring in Newcastle-under-lyme

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed utilising a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
