Parquet Flooring in Shropshire

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best showcased. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company can advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
