Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a huge range of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which function several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
