Parquet Flooring in St Austell

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company can advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
