Parquet Flooring in Exeter

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed utilising a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
