Parquet Flooring in Glenrothes

Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed using a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
