Parquet Flooring in Hammersmith and Fulham

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed utilising a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most suitable wood types and patterns for your home.
