Parquet Flooring in Hove

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring option which works best in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed by using a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
