Parquet Flooring in Slough

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a huge array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
