Dinas Powys
Dinas Powys is a large town as well as an area in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales which takes its name from the old Welsh for fortress, (Dinas) and also pagus,(Powys) the Latin word for pagan. The literal meaning, as a result, being, "Pagan Stronghold", referring to Dinas Powys hillfort that dates from the Iron Age. The village is 5.6 miles (9.0 kilometres) south-west of the centre of Cardiff and comfortably situated on the A4055 Cardiff to Barry main road. It is usually considered a positive dorm room town for Cardiff's commerce as well as sector commuters given that the city has increased with widespread development around the Cardiff Bay location. In spite of the addition of a number of housing developments over the past fifty years, the old town centre of Dinas Powys still has a mainly untainted and almost rural feel, keeping a big town common as well as a standard village centre total with a post office as well as a series of tiny independent stores, hostelries, dining establishments and also area centers. Furthermore there are shops, garages, little supermarkets, Pharmacy and also a Veterinarians on the primary Cardiff Roadway as well as a selection of stores on the Murch estate including a post office. The Wellness Centre consisting of the medical professionals and Murch drug store moved in April 2017 to the new Medical centre at the top of Murch Road, on the site of the old St Cyres, Dinas Powys site. According to recent selecting rolls the population is in the area of 8,800. This develops the village as the fifth biggest settlement in the Vale of Glamorgan and also larger than lots of legal towns in the UK.
