Parquet Flooring in Pontyclun

Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive variety of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
