Parquet Flooring in Erith
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
